Favorite Pins Friday

I love Pinterest! I have a slight addiction and a board for everything. It’s such a good way to share teaching strategies, cute fashion ideas, quotes, and pretty much everything else. I seriously get so many ideas from here, it’s ridiculous.

I love seeing Terri’s “Favorite Pins Friday” posts on The Creative Apple, and I thought it would be fun to share my own pins. I’ve limited my favorites to five, and I plan to make this a recurring type of entry on my blog. I’m so excited!

This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite quotes. This is why I teach, and more specifically, this is why I love to teach reading. I think that every time you read a book, you take a little bit of the characters with you. I want my students to meet these brave knights, and know that they, too, are courageous and strong.

I love these positive behavior rewards! They’re designed for a space-themed classroom, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t work in any room. The rewards are simple, but no doubt effective; my students thought wearing a hat in class was the coolest thing in the world. Some of these might not work with my fifth-graders (like bringing a stuffed animal to school) but the rest are fantastic. (And who am I kidding? I had a kid bring a blanket to school a few days last year.)

First, can I just say that I love how colorful this image is? I love so many of these ideas! I think that if I weren’t a teacher, I’d want some kind of job that deals with organization. Or I’d just work at like, The Container Store. Either way. But seriously, I love all the color-coding that is going on here. Makes my slightly obsessive heart happy.

I love this idea. It is happening in my classroom this year, although I have no idea how effective it’ll be. When students borrow a classroom book, they check it out using a library card. I love the idea – I love the throwback to the old-school library cards that our students have probably never seen before – and I seriously hope it’ll help me keep my library more organized. Oh, and it’s available as a freebie at I Love Labels!

Reagan Tunstall has one of the most gorgeous classrooms I’ve ever seen. I love this small group area! The symmetry of the bookshelves and the file cabinet just looks amazing, and I love how homey it looks with the lamps and flowers. It’s obvious that she’s worked hard to make her classroom aesthetically pleasing. I’m jealous of her students!

And a bonus pin, because I can’t help myself…

I love Doctor Who so, so much! And I miss the Tenth Doctor so, SO much! If you haven’t watched it yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. Seriously, it’s the most amazing show. I love it!
